With profound sadness we announce the passing of Camelia, loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Camelia (Tafoya) Allen passed away peacefully on March 24, 2020 in Denver, Colorado.
Camelia Tafoya was born in Socorro, New Mexico on June 1, 1954. She graduated in 1972 from Socorro High School. Camelia married the love of her life, Lawrence (Larry) Allen in 1973. She went on to earn a degree in nursing at Pima Community College in Tucson Arizona. Camelia worked in the medical field for many years in Tucson, Albuquerque and Denver. Together, Camelia and Larry proudly raised their son, Daniel.
Camelia had a vivacious personality and a witty sense of humor. She loved life and she loved people and had many lifelong friendships. She also enjoyed travel, book club, games of all sorts. She especially enjoyed getting together with neighborhood friends for Bunco. She loved entertaining and was a fabulous cook. She was compassionate, fun, loving, rarely still and the life of every party (of which there were many). Her exceptional gifts and talent led her to develop an exclusive line of personal handcrafted greeting cards that were admired and enjoyed by many. Her greatest joys in life were being surrounded by people she loved and her dogs Mira and Sky. She especially adored her role as a grandmother to Havana and Phoenix Werth, Tatum Allen and her role as great-grandmother to Zane Metcalf.
Camelia is preceded in death by her parents Ramon M. Tafoya and Elma L. Tafoya Lopez. She is survived by her husband, Larry, their son, Daniel, and his wife, Tanya of Brighton, CO. She is also survived by grandchildren Havana and Phoenix Werth, Tatum Allen and great-grandson Zane Metcalf also of Brighton, CO, her sister Christene Tafoya of Baltimore MD, brothers Bill Tafoya of Socorro, NM and Michael Tafoya of Costa Mesa, CA, and a myriad of much-loved nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished friends.
Camelia achieved great things, touched the lives of many, and did a phenomenal job on this mortal earth. She continuously reinvented herself and conquered multiple medical complications, up until the very end. We wish her a safe journey. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her love for life, family, friends, and puppies.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or The Lupus Foundation of America.
