Carl Borgsmiller

June 12, 1943 — December 8, 2015

Carl Borgsmiller of Westminster, Colorado passed away on December 8, 2015. Carl was an amazing and loving 72-year-old man, having lived in Colorado for over 40 years. Originally born in Murphysboro, Illinois to George and Lillian Borgsmiller. He was the oldest of three children which includes his brother Jim and sister Janie. Carl's extended family has grown through the years; he has ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as, brothers- and sisters-in-law. The Borgsmiller family was very active in their hometown; in fact, there is a street in Murphysboro named for the Borgsmillers, and a replica hangs in Carl's garage at home in Westminster, Colorado. Growing up, Carl's greatest passion was baseball. His father accompanied Carl to games and helped coach the teams. He pitched, played first base and was very active with his competitive American Legion team. His nickname was ""Bugsy"", a name shared mostly with his teammates; not many family and friends knew of this nickname! Carl received his bachelors and masters degrees from Southern Illinois University; accounting and business management were his focus. His professional career involved receiving his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification, and he served as controller for Perlmutter & Co. (Formerly The Perl-Mack Companies) for 20 years. Carl helped raise three sons, Ken, Mike and Jeff (mother, Mary Ellen), and is currently married to Susan Borgsmiller. In addition, he had three step-children (Pam, Nancy and Brian) and enjoyed spending time with family. Ken and his family reside in Elizabeth, Colorado, Jeff and his family resides in Little Rock, Arkansas and Mike resides in Superior, Colorado. Pam and Brian are in Colorado and Nancy lives in Claremore, Oklahoma. Carl and Susan were married in 1990 and live in Westminster, Colorado, the home they have shared since 1995. They enjoyed traveling, hiking, along with visiting as many ballparks in the US as they could. When visiting Jeff in Chicago, a true highlight for him was to see and experience Wrigley Field. Carl and Susan would enjoy visiting ghost towns in the mountains of Colorado and loved four-wheel driving throughout the trails. Taking walks and strolling through cities, where they traveled, was one of their many pleasures. Carl was a devoted husband, a loving grandfather and a very generous and caring individual. We treasure, love, and will miss him dearly. A Celebration of Life honoring Carl will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 4:30 PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado 80003.
