Carl Bevan Floyd, Sr.

June 15, 1930 — March 31, 2013

Carl Floyd, Sr. was born June 15, 1930 and passed away March 31, 2013 with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nelda; sons Carl (Charlene) Floyd, Jr. of Centennial, CO, Randy (Sandi) Floyd of Castle Rock, CO and Tony Floyd of Denver, CO; daughters Dana Willams of Aurora, CO and Darci (Greg) Hemmer of Greenwood, IN; sisters Georgia Lambke of Wichita, KS and Marie Trader of Kansas City, KS. He leaves behind 17 adoring grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son Bruce Floyd. Carl was born to Elijah and Marie Floyd in Argonia, KS as the youngest son of 4 brothers and 6 sisters. He graduated from Argonia High School in 1948 where he excelled in many sports. That same year he married his high school sweetheart, Nelda, and they moved to Wichita, KS where he worked many jobs until becoming an electrician which became his lifelong career. He moved his growing family to Colorado in 1960 and to his current residence in Littleton in 1961. He retired from Marathon Oil in 1992. Carl had a great passion for many sports especially golf and baseball. Nothing made him happier than a day at the ballpark playing or watching his sons, grandsons and especially the Rockies. Golf became his retirement passion and he was striving to shoot his age. He was close, that's what he told us anyway. Carl attended Living Way Fellowship where he enjoyed many friends. The joy of Carl's life was his family. He loved each on of them in his own special way and each felt like they were his favorite. He was loved and adored by all and will be greatly missed.
