Carl O. Hawkins

December 6, 1932 — March 18, 2007

Carl O. Hawkins was born December 6, 1932 in Pratt, Kansas. He spent most of his career as a professional bricklayer. He owned and operated his own bricklaying business for several years. He was too lively to retire and was working with his brother, Robert Bandy until his sudden illness and death. Carl was an avid bowler, golfer, and cruiser; always with his close companion, Shirley Hailey at his side. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends and family. He loved taking their money too. He was often heard saying, 'Don't let me catch you in the bushes.' Also important to him was his dear friend, Summer, who was his neighbor, friend and dedicated nurse during his illness. Thank you Summer!! Carl is survived by his two daughters, Carla (Larry) Santorno, Seattle, WA and Steffenie Morning, Denver, CO; his two sons, Darrell (Charlotte) Armour, Denver, CO and Carlton (Sara) Hawkins, Phoenix, AZ; his sisters and brothers, Juanda Daggs, Annette Norman, Robert (Francelia) Bandy, Jake Norman, Milton Norman; his significant companion, Shirley Hailey; his grandchildren, Tiffany Armour, Perri Rae Hawkins, Janea Morning, Sierra Santorno, Derrick Morning Christopher Santorno, Jason Santorno (deceased), Matthew Santorno and Andre Wells; his great grandchildren Josea Giron, Shyla Rae Managa, Tasia Wells Dante Espinoza, Josiah Morning Isaiah Santorno and Andre Wells, Jr,. Carl was a vibrant, energetic father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will always be remembered as an active young man. He was taken from us too soon. He will be missed, but not forgotten.
