Carlos Jacobo Gonzales was born in Garita, New Mexico to Jacobo Amado Gonzales, and Elenita (Lopez) Gonzales on December 16, 1930, and passed away on January 23, 2021 at the age of 90. Carlos was the eighth child of nine children, four brothers and three sisters and later welcoming into the family one additional sister. He lived his entire young life at the ranch in Garita with his parents and his siblings.
On October 11, 1951 Carlos was drafted into the Armed Forces of the United States of America in which he served his Country for two years as a Private during the Korean War. He was a medic while he served in Korea, he then continued to serve in the Army Reserves for an additional six years, and was honorably discharged from the Army in 1959. He received a “Korean Service Medal w/3 Bronze Service Stars”, “UN Service Medal”, and a “Meritorious Unit Command National Defense Service Medal”, during the years he served.
After his service, Carlos met the love of his life and joined Evan Clara Archuleta in the Holy Bonds of Matrimony on July 16, 1955 and shared an incredible 65 years of marriage, family, love and friendship.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Evan Gonzales, daughters and spouses; Jeanette Gonzales, Diana (Luke) Trujillo, Helen (Leonard) Martinez, Corine Gonzales-Diaz (Arthur Diaz Jr.), Carla Gonzales and friend Lisa Borrego, Dollie Gonzales and Greg Alt; and son Carlos Gonzales.
Grandchildren; Alberto and Gail Martinez, Crystal Armijo, Jennifer and Ryan Koch, Vanessa and Johnny Camacho, Nicole Armijo and Jesse Stratos, Luke Trujillo Jr and Joann Tram, Allison and Danny Ruiz. Great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Alia, Alena and Gabriel Martinez; Sophia and Emilio Camacho; Jaxon Armijo; Ella, Aydan and Everly Koch; Mirabelle Trujillo, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and cousins.
Visitation will be held Monday February 1, 2021 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm; Horan & McConaty in Arvada Colorado. Family and friends are welcomed to attend.
February 2, 2021, Recitation of the Rosary at 10:30 am, Funeral Mass 11:00 am, both at Holy Family Church. Veteran Graveside Service at Fort Logan National Cemetery; at 1:30 pm.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Rosary, Funeral Mass and the Graveside Service at Fort Logan has limited attendance. All three services are reserved for immediate family only.
