Carmel Cecilia Alvarez

Carmel Cecilia Alvarez was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on May 1, 1927 to Filigonio Arellano and Magdelena (Martinez) Arellano, and passed away at her home in Denver, Colorado September 5, 2018 at age 91. She married Richard Alvarez at Holy Family Catholic Church in Fort Collins on December 30, 1945. They were married 58 years at the time of his death on December 24, 2004.

Carmel and Richard had five children. Daughter Cecilia Traum preceded her in death. Cecilia’s husband Ray Traum survives along with their children Anita (Ryan) Schrank, Kyle Traum and Noel Traum, and Anita’s children, Peter, Abby and Elizabeth.

Dicky-Lynn Alvarez and her husband Duane, and her children, Bruce Eddings, Joseph Eddings and Yvonne Alvarez. Bruce’s children Liam and Alani; Joseph’s children, Dillon, Isabella and Madelyn and Yvonne’s children, Christian, Rafael, and Daniel.

Lydia Ramirez and her husband David, and their children Jude Ramirez, Marcus Ramirez and his wife Angela, David George Ramirez and Sarah Ramirez; Jude’s daughter Ophelia, and Marcus’ son Hugo.

Richard Alvarez and his daughters, Brianda Luc Alvarez, who died on April 20, 1994, and Cabrina Alvarez, and her children Faith, Mia, Alyssa and Ezekiel.

Teddi Montoya and her husband Joseph, and their children Leticia Montoya, Brie Montoya and Eli Montoya.

Carmel’s ten brothers and sisters are Grace Olmedo and her husband Joe, Walter Arellano (dec.) and his wife Gloria, Ernest Arellano (dec.) and his wife Carol, Virginia Southworth (dec.), Ramona Kelley and her husband Ramon, Phillip Arellano (dec.) and his wife Jeannie, Magdalena Aguayo and husband Jose, Filigonio Arellano and his wife Eileen, Pita Martinez and Becky Arellano,

The Rosary will be held at 5PM Thursday, September 13th, and the Funeral Mass will be held at 11AM, Friday, September 14th, both at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, 4200 Federal Boulevard. Private Interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
