Carol Ann Atzman was born in Battle Creek, Michigan. She spent her childhood there and met Pete while they were still in high school. They married shortly after graduation on September 10, 1955. Pete and Carol had six children from 1956-1965. After her retirement, she began her final career volunteering at Friends of St. Andrew in the soup kitchen in 2001. She loved being part of an organization that assisted the poor and homeless of Aurora. Carol perfected the art of cooking for 100 people using whatever happened to be in the pantry that week. Her soup-making skills were legendary, and will long be remembered, as will the 15 dozen hard boiled eggs she made every week. She touched many people in so many ways. She was always a champion for the people in need, either at the soup kitchen, or handing the guy on the corner a couple dollars. She never went anywhere in her car without being stocked up on dollar bills in her ashtray. Carol lived her life doing exactly what she wanted, when she wanted, including skydiving at the age of 73 (against doctor's orders of course). She loved to travel and enjoyed her final trip to Sedona just three weeks before her death. She is survived by her husband, Pete, one brother, six children and ten grandchildren.
