Carol Louise Balcom, age 80, passed away due to cancer in her home in Castle Rock, Colorado surrounded by her family. She was born April 17, 1940 in Portland, Oregon to Ronald and Georgie Roley. Carol attended grade school at St. John’s Catholic School in Oregon City, and graduated from Canby High School in 1959. She married the love of her life, Mark Balcom, on January 7, 1961. She was a devoted wife until her last breath, loving mother to her son, Larry Balcom and daughter, Mary Barnes, and grandmother to her three grandchildren. We will all remember her as forever faithful, gentle, thoughtful and kind.
She will be fondly remembered by her Parish Community at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Cedar Hills, Oregon, as the woman who championed and managed the Coffee and Donuts fellowship ministry as well as assisting with several other ministries at the church for decades. She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity since its founding in 1962. In addition to her activities at the church, Carol served as the Secretary and Historian for the Beaverton Squadron of the United States Power Squadrons, and was a member of the Tualatin Valley Rose Society and enjoyed growing orchids, roses and amaryllis, as well as flower arranging, earning awards at several rose shows in Portland, Oregon.
She worked at Dunkin Donuts in Raleigh Hills from 1978-1980, and then worked for several years in retail at Kmart and Fred Meyer in Beaverton until she retired in 2001.
Carol and Mark relocated to Castle Rock, Colorado in 2019 to be near their daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. Carol finally realized her dream of moving into a home built especially for her in July of 2020.
Carol is survived by her husband Mark, brothers Edward Roley and Robert Roley, and their wives Zorabelle and Kristine; her sisters-in-law Clarice Roley, Elizabeth Roley, Annette Wanker and Betty Howard, and their husbands, Richard Wanker and Richard Howard, and her brother-in-law Edwin Balcom; her son Larry Balcom, her daughter and son-in-law Mary and Kerry Barnes, and her grandchildren Alexander Davis, Kimberly Davis, and Samantha Barnes.

Following the visitation will be a memorial service at noon; Carol will later be transported to Portland, Oregon for a funeral service at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Beaverton, Oregon, and her burial at St. John the Apostle Cemetery in Oregon City, Oregon.
