Carol was born February 6th, 1948, to Chuck Di Manna and Lucille Perito Di Manna. Carol lived in North Denver four blocks from the old Elitch Gardens amusement park. The family moved to Arvada in 1961. Carol attended Holy Family Catholic grade and high school, graduating in 1966.
After high school, she attended Rangely College, graduating in 1970 as a Registered Dental Hygienist.
After graduation, Carol worked in Canyon City for a year and was then offered a position to teach Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene at Amarillo State College in Amarillo, Texas. Carol returned to Denver to practice dental hygiene in 1973 until she retired in 2012.
On February 13th, 1974, she met her future husband, Bob Downey. It was Ash Wednesday, and Carol often joked that it was Lent from that time on. Carol married Bob on May 3rd, 1975. She travelled to many places with Bob living in Colorado, Texas, Saudi Arabia, and England. During these years, they travelled often. She enjoyed experiencing new lands and meeting people from other places. She met some of her best friends in Saudi Arabia.
Carol enjoyed crafts. Many of her Nieces and Nephews enjoyed her knitted socks, hats, and other items. She also enjoyed quilting and made many quilts. Most were given to friends, family, and various charities. She was of wonderful cook, sharing her meals with friends and always ready to share a recipe. She enjoyed Bunco, Mahjongg, and other games. She enjoyed herself in the Ladies’ Putters group.
She was a member of the Denver Symphony Guild. She also volunteered at Mullan Home, the Denver Food Bank, and other charities.
She was dedicated to her Church. She worked in the parish office in Saudi Arabia and supported the construction of St. Michael the Archangel church, in Florence, Arizona, where she and Bob spent many of their winters. She enjoyed the Bible study group in her local community. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic church in Lafayette, Colorado.
Carol loved her family: her brother, Chuck, and his family, her sister, Kathy, and her family, her many relatives and friends. Carol was a wonderful wife and dedicated mother. She dearly loved her husband, Bob, her son, Michael, and her puppy, Blue.
She will be missed and remembered. She is with Jesus now, and is no longer suffering.
May she rest in peace.
