Carol A. Madsen was born on September 12, 1929 and past away on March 29th, 2008. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Galluzzo of Denver, CO; grandson Vince Pagano, esq. of Chicago, IL; grandson Nic Pagano and wife Bess of Denver, CO; niece Nancy Keeler, RN, of Houston, TX; and great grandson Lawson of Denver, CO. Born in Elizabeth, NJ, Carol grew up in New Jersey and enjoyed being a librarian at the Linden Free Public Library for 32 years. During these years she raised Leslie, passing on her love of culture and history by making sure they frequented the museums, shows, and attractions that the area had to offer; every holiday one could find them at Radio City Music Hall. Travel was a priority in Carol's life, and she never missed an opportunity for a road trip with her New Jersey best friend, Georgene, to the beach, or any of the beautiful areas this country has to offer. With the arrival of her two energetic grandsons, this only encouraged the desire to see, go, and do. The boys learned about baseball, history, and travel from their 'Gram.' She moved to Colorado following Leslie and the boys to Denver in 1992. Here she quickly established a close community by volunteering at the library and the senior rec center. She found much enjoyment with her Women's Club that would gather for lunch and share lives. She also kept active with her exercise class and the friendships found there. Always on the move, Gram could be found downtown at shows, walking to the grocery store, or catching the bus to 'go up the hill' with her Colorado best friend Millie. She loved reading the entire newspaper everyday; and, most recently, playing with her great grandson who called her ""Abba."" Encouraging and taking care of others filled her days, and friends and family were most important. A memorial service honoring Carol's life will be held Thursday, April 3rd 2008, 7:00pm at Horan and McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd in Lakewood. Private burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Linden, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to: Denver Dumb Friends League, 2080 S. Quebec St, Denver, CO 80231
