Carol Romero

Carol Jean (Duran) Romero, 81, born in Trinidad, Colorado, on January 13, 1942, to Isabel (Duran) Rodriguez and Nicholas Ortiz, took her place as a devoted Catholic at the right hand of God on May 20, 2023.

On March 7, 1959, she was united in marriage to her devoted spouse, Delbert Romero, to whom she was lovingly wed to for 64 years.

They subsequently left Trinidad to reside in Long Beach, CA while her husband served in the U.S. Navy, after which they made their permanent residence in Lakewood, CO.

Carol spent her life primarily as a dedicated wife, proud and loving mother, and homemaker. She was proud of her volunteer work at Spalding Rehabilitation Center for 25 years, ultimately serving as its President.

Surviving is her husband, Del, son, Carl (Melody Hughes) Romero: granddaughters Katelyn (Blake) Rider, Phoenix, AZ and Kendra Romero, Denver, CO; Son, Kevin (Beth Saffell, Dec.) Romero; grandson, Colton, granddaughters, Paige and Lauren Romero, Granby, CO.

Other surviving family members are siblings, Liz (Rocky) Nunley, Aurora, CO; Catherine Zinger, Long Island, NY; Bryan (Stephanie) Rodriguez, Brighton, CO; Douglas (Miriam) Rodriguez, Hays, KS, and Donald Rodriguez, Aurora, CO; also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by cherished grandmother, Jesusita Duran, Trinidad, CO; parents Isabel and Frank Rodriguez, Trinidad, CO; siblings Robert and Anthony Rodriguez.

Arrangements under the direction of Horan and McConaty 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80227.

In lieu of flowers the family requests those who wish to honor Carol’s memory consider making a donation to Collier Hospice Center, 3210 N. Lutheran Pkwy, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033, whom provided loving and tender care to not only Carol but were most accommodating to her family and visitors. A sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses, CNA’s and extended staff.
