Carole (Occhiato) Carlson passed away, March 7, 2024, at her home in Centennial, Colorado. She was 84 years old. Carole was a proud Colorado native, born in Pueblo, Colo., to Mary L. Occhiato and Carl M. Occhiato. She graduated from Pueblo Central High School in 1957. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree from Simmons College in Boston and her Master’s in Education at the University of Denver. She began her teaching career in Denver Public Schools and later taught in Cherry Creek Schools while raising her family. It was shortly after she began her teaching career that she met her husband of 57 years, David Carlson. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Carole is survived by her loving husband, her son Mark Carlson of Denver, her daughter and son-in-law, Krista (Krissie) and John Marotto of Centennial, her beloved grandchildren, Lyla and Tess Carlson, Maria and Carl Marotto, nephew Carl Ray Covi of Pueblo, Colo., and many cousins and lifelong friends.
