Carolyn Collins

Carolyn Thomas Collins, 87, died Wednesday Nov. 25, 2020 at home.

Carolyn was born April 18, 1933 in Dillon, South Carolina, the daughter of the late James E Thomas and Myrtle Ballard Thomas.

She attended grade school in Dillon, S.C., Furman University in Greenville, S.C. and Draughns Business School in Columbia, S.C.

She married Hayward Collins in 1953. Together they travelled extensively with the United States Air Force.

She was the beloved mother of; Alan (Darlene) of Hockley, Texas and Russell (Liz) of Brisbane, Queensland; Laura of Denver, Colo. and Shannon of Aurora Colo.; and grandmother of Leah, Lisa, Grady and Ben.

She lived in Queensland, Australia for 18 years working as admin staff for Alex Overette Auctioneers, The Australian National Party, and Royal Brisbane Hospital Drug and Alcohol Unit. On her return to the USA in 1988 she settled in Myrtle Beach SC, working for Ocean Lakes Camping Grounds. In 2003 after the passing of her husband she moved to Aurora, CO to be closer to family.

Carolyn lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker, artistic cross stitcher, keen bowler, and faithful friend. Her faith in Jesus Christ was evident by her caring for her family and friends. She always had a smile and a kind laugh to put others at ease. She was loved and admired by everyone she met.

A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at First Baptist Church, 400 North 4th Ave, Dillon, S.C. 29536 on Friday 12/11/2020 at 1pm Eastern Standard time. Pastor Brian Thomas will officiate.
