Carolyn Elizabeth Forslund passed away on August 29, 2005 at Colorado Lutheran Care Center in Arvada, Colorado. A Memorial Service was held at Colorado Lutheran Home on September 1, 2005. Carolyn was born on March 2, 1922 in Callender, Iowa. She was the daughter of George and Ruth Anderson and grew up on their farm near Harcourt and Gowrie, Iowa. She graduated form Harcourt High School in 1940 and worked for a time as a nurse's aide in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Carolyn became a homemaker after she married Clarence 'Kelly' Forslund on December 31, 1942. They lived in and near Harcourt, Iowa until 1957. Kelly held several jobs in the Harcourt area, the last of which was Postmaster at the Harcourt Post Office. Carolyn became ill with rheumatoid arthritis, so the Forslunds moved to Colorado for her health in 1957. They finished raising their family in Golden, Colorado, and thereafter moved to Arvada, Colorado. Carolyn's children remember her as a kind and patient mother who read to them often. She loved music and had a tender place in her heart for all small children. Her deep and abiding spirituality enabled her to endure the pain and disabilities caused by her illness. Kelly preceded her in death on July 1, 1996. Carolyn is survived by her children, Judy Forslund, of Eugene, Oregon; Jackie Forslund, of San Francisco, California; and Jim Forslund, of Englewood, Colorado; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brothers, Lawrence Anderson, of Gowrie, Iowa; and Ray Anderson, of Woodbury, Minnesota. 'But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me and forbid them not: for such is the kingdom of God.' - Luke 18:16
