Carolyn Marie Starrett, 79 of Aurora, Colorado, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, on October 17th, 2022. She was born in Kansas City, KS on October 22nd, 1942. Carolyn was raised with her 4 siblings, Mike, Jan, Tom and Joyce in Shawnee, KS by her parents Oliver and Alice Richardson. As the first born Carolyn was doted on by all her aunts and uncles while her father was off at war. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School and was a devoted Catholic. She met the love of her life, Roger Alan Starrett on a blind date in 1962 and they married a year later for 55 years. Carolyn and Roger adopted two children, Andrew Alan Starrett and Amy Marie Starrett living in Kansas, Colorado, Ohio, Florida, Texas, Colorado, Florida and back to Colorado wherever Roger’s piping designer profession and retirement took them.
Carolyn has been described by friends and family as having one of the largest hearts of any person they have ever known. The way she expressed love fully is through gifts, usually handmade. She was passionate about her artistry from ceramics to stained and fused glass. Her artwork resides in many homes across the country. If she wasn’t creating she was reading. It was easy for her to finish several books a week. A woman of many talents she had an unusual ability to make plants grow, in other words she had a green thumb. Family was her pride and joy! Being the oldest she was like a mother to all her cousins. She supported her children endlessly by taking them to practices for dance, soccer and BMX biking. Making her family feel special by creating lasting memories was her true gift.
Carolyn is survived by her two kids, Andy Starrett and his wife, Tiffany Starrett, Amy Reid and her husband, Dan Reid, her three grandkids, Alex Anderson, Kylie Paul Starrett, Devin Reid, and extended family.
