Carrie Louise Aden (Ballard) was born October 13, 1923, in Wheatland, Wyoming to Nellie Ballard (Hiatt) and George R. Ballard. She passed away August 28, 2018 at Inglenook in Brighton, Colorado at the age of 94 years, 10 months.
Carrie was raised on Wyoming prairie homesteads near Dwyer and Guernsey, where they lived off the fruits of their own labor. They raised cattle, sheep, pork, and chickens and a huge garden to be canned and preserved for winter. Carrie was the youngest of six siblings who were much older than she, for that reason, her nick name was Tag or Tag-a-long.
Carrie graduated from Guernsey High School and married Everett L. Aden May 25, 1941. This marriage was blessed with 66 years together. Everett was a Naval Aviator during World War II, and Carrie traveled to be near him as she was able. Following the war, Everett began a career as an airline pilot at Monarch/Frontier Airlines which he enjoyed for 35 years. They first lived in Aurora, CO, then moved to an acreage south of Henderson, CO, where they continued to raise five children. Later they enjoyed retirement years residing at Van Aire, Brighton, CO.
Carrie pursued her love of sewing, knitting, crocheting, upholstering, decorating, and cooking. She was accomplished at them all, and made a special home for her husband and family. It was also a home in which all members learned to work and develop their individual skills. As parents they passed on their Christian Faith to which they were committed. Faith in God was the foundation of their life. They were members of Fourway Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers and sisters; her husband, Everett L. Aden, 2008; great granddaughters, Myra Faye Aden, Jillian Faith Aden, Sarah Hope Aden; great grandson, Noah Aden; daughter-in-law, Kathie Jo Aden; sister-in-law, Golda Aden.
