Caryol Call Linford, 78, passed away suddenly November 15, 2014 in Broomfield, Colorado. She was born August 5, 1936 in Ogden, Utah to Irvin and Mary Wood Call. Caryol was the second youngest of 13 children and had a very happy childhood. She had a large yard plus a barnyard to play in. Her two closest friends were her sister Arlene (3 years older) and her sister Shirley (2 years younger). She had a delightful time playing in the barn, on the hay, riding bikes, riding old work horses, playing dolls, paper dolls and dressing up in her mother's and sisters' dresses, hats, high heels, purses, and old make-up. She loved her years in school. In 8th grade, a significant event occurred that would bring changes to her life forever. She spotted a good-looking, curly-headed, blond, 9th grade student and developed an immediate crush on him. Caryol had to have a picture of him, and as it turned out, one of her girl friends had a connection with this good looking young man. She sent her camera home with her friend who took some pictures of him. Caryol carried his picture with her for a long time, and this crush eventually led to marriage. Caryol graduated from BYU in June of 1958 and was married that same month in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. Schooling and professional pursuits took the newly married couple to Champaign, Illinois, Red Bank, New Jersey, Mesa, Arizona and finally to Broomfield, Colorado. Caryol and John have lived in Broomfield for the past 40 years. Caryol felt blessed as she recalled the specialness of each little baby boy placed in her arms right after their birth, knowing that they were a gift from Heavenly Father. How she loved her precious sons and how blessed she felt to have these precious children in her care and keeping. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, accepting and fulfilling many church callings. She spent many years serving in the Primary as a teacher and in-service leader, both on a ward and stake level. Working in the Young Women's organization was a special treat for her where she served as Mia-Maid teacher, counselor and president. In Relief Society, she served as in-service leader, education counselor, as president and as a spiritual living teacher. Caryol considered herself very blessed. She enjoyed watching her sons and their wives (whom she considered daughters) holding those special babies from Heavenly Father in their arms. She took special joy in observing these little ones bring and receive love in their homes. Among her choicest experiences were seeing her sons honor their priesthood by fulfilling their priesthood responsibilities, taking their precious babies in their arms for father's blessings, baptizing and confirming their children at age 8, ordaining their sons to the priesthood and serving their Savior. She always believed in their potential. Caryol is survived by her beloved husband, John R. Linford; five sons: Clark (Lisa) Linford, Eric (Jill) Linford, Bruce (JoanE) Linford, Alan Linford, Kent (Cajsa) Linford; 14 grandchildren: Scott, Kimberly (Tanner) Folster, Shellie (Erik) Hall, Melanie (Brandon) Howell, Robert (Tracy), Derek (Karlie), Ryan, Erika, Jacob, Jared, Lindsey, Lauren, Hayley and John Linford; three great-grandchildren, Preston & Oakley Hall and Cason Linford; three sisters, Afton Wood, Arlene Egbert and Shirley Byers. She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2014, 6:30-8:30pm, Horan & McConaty, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, CO 80229.
