Cash is survived and missed by his loving wife April (Elias) of 31 years; and his children, Lauren (Brian), Haylee, Elias (Peggy), and Samantha. He is forever cherished and remembered by his three grandchildren, Taylen, Allison and Owen, with one more little one on the way. Siblings and their families; James Brooks (Linda), Timothy Brooks (Linda) & Marla Fuller (Roger). His memory will always be cherished by the Brooks family and we know that he was the favorite :)
His memory lives on with his nieces and nephews; Shannon, Stacey, Shelby, Tara, Ryan, Susan, Chad.
Cash was predeceased by his father, Richard Raymond Brooks, his mother, Faye Alene (Claymore) Brooks.
He was born and raised in Pierre, SD. He graduated from TF Riggs High School, where he was also the homecoming king. He recently attended his 50 year high school reunion where he was blessed to catch up with old friends and he had the best time. He graduated from South Dakota State University in 1978, where he majored in Economics. Later on he moved to Aurora, Colorado where he eventually met his wife, April Elias. Some of his greatest joys came from his four children. They created many memories while enjoying trips as a family. Visiting family and friends in Pierre, going to Mount Rushmore, Las Vegas, Florida, and camping all over the Colorado mountains. He was the coach for all his children’s teams and continued on with his grandchildren. Many joyful hours were spent attending many of their activities.
He took an active role in the lives of his grandchildren. He loved to spend time with them gardening, playing sports, and sharing his stories. He would spend hours every week with his grandkids and Sunday Night Family dinners became the highlight of our lives.
Cash was privileged to have worked for several wonderful companies including, CitiBank, NelNet, and US Bank, where he had just retired in 2024 after 15 plus years . He will always be remembered for his hard work and the friendships they made.
Cash had the special quality of being able to make friends anywhere he went. His warm welcoming smile, big belly laugh and sparkling eyes, made you want to know him. Talking to Cash was always like catching up with an old friend. He made you feel like family and was truly loved by everyone. He was one of the few people in this world who made lifelong friendships no matter where he was.
Cash was not only generous with his time, but also with his heart. He was a devout Catholic and a proud member of the St. Michaels’ Men’s Club. He was the inspiration for his children and grandchildren to get baptized, have their first communions and confirmation. He was sitting in the front row and drove the kids to their religious education classes. Family was always the most important thing to him.
Cash never faltered when it came to living a life with honesty and integrity. Cash had incredible patience, and always made time to help others. He was always donating to an important cause.
His legacy will carry on forever, reminding us that we choose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and to put family first. Nothing is more important than family. Heaven has gained another Angel. Rest in Peace Cash Lee.
