Catherine Claire Olson

Catherine Claire Olson, 88, of Denver passed away April 2nd. Services will be at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Thursday, April 9th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery on April 20th. Catherine was born on December 18, 1926. She married Carl John Olson on January 25, 1947. She is survived by her daughters Carla Hoffschneider of Aurora, Monie Olson and Cindy Sundine of Denver, Lisa Bradley of Portland, Oregon and sons Steve Olson of Denver and Kevin Olson of Aurora and her brother Charles Bogard of Arvada, 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter Karen Martin. Cathie (as she was known) was a Colorado native. Her great grandparents were French Canadian settlers in Ft. Collins before Colorado became a state. She was born in Denver and attended Stevens Elementary School, Morey Middle School and East High School. She graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She was a Head Nurse at Rose Medical Center for over 35 years and then worked at the travel clinic for another 11 years. She was an exceptional nurse and supervisor and was held in high regard by everyone at the hospital. She was one of the founders of the St. Joe's bridge club. She played bridge until the week before she died and she was in several groups. She and her husband played bridge with 5 other couples every Saturday night for 30 years. Even when she was not feeling well she'd play bridge. Along with raising a large family and working full time, she made time for volunteer projects and was always willing to help everyone. She maintained several friendships lasting 50 years and more. She had a fantastic spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
