Catherine M. Sweeney

Catherine Marie Sweeney, 89, of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2017. She was born April 30, 1927 in Denver to James and Mary Procopio Talarico. Catherine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandma and just recently a great-great-grandma. She loved her family more than anything! Everyone was welcome in her home anytime. She cooked spaghetti dinners every Sunday for whomever showed up. She loved her Colorado Rockies and attending her grandkids sporting events to cheer them on. She will be missed by everyone she knew. Catherine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Horace L. Sweeney. She is survived by their four children, Mary Sweeney, Patty (Gordon) Velotta, Loretta Lark , Danny (Mary) Sweeney; eight grandchildren, Tammy (Adam) Sproveri, Shamera (Stephen) Husmann, DeAndra Lark, Crystal (Jerry) Andersen, Joey (Dawn) Velotta, Stacey Sweeney, Shane Carlyle, Jamey (Natalie) Velotta; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Jimmy Talarico, Loretta Miller, Virginia Jenkins, Anna Swab, Tony Talarico, Josephine Pallet, Cathy Wolf. She was preceded in death by her brother, Vince Talarico. Recitation of the Rosary will be Friday, January 13, 2017, 9:30 am, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 7595 N. Federal Blvd, Westminster, Colorado 80030. A private burial will be held at a later date at Fort Logan National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest by her beloved Horace.
