Catherine Willner

February 15, 1954 — January 22, 2022

Catherine Louise Willner of Durango, Colorado died Saturday January 22, 2022 at Saint Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado.

She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Audrey Willner.

In 1986, Catherine graduated as a Medical Doctor from the University of Kansas, College of Health Sciences and Medicine. She did her residency at the Mayo Clinic and was a fellow there for a number of years before going into private practice in Durango, Colorado as a board certified neurologist.

She practiced medicine for over 36 years, publishing several studies in the field of neurology and pain management.

For more than 20 years functional medicine was a key component of her practice. She was a faculty member of the institute of functional medicine (IFM).

She was a frequent and highly popular speaker for IFM.

In 2005, IFM honored her with their Linus Pauling award for her innovative clinical advances in functional medicine approaches in neurology.

She was a faculty member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging medicine and a highly popular speaker for them as well.

She was respected internationally as an authority in energy medicine, and throughout the years was involved in the research and development of energy devices that could be utilized to treat patients.

Catherine loved animals, especially dogs.

At the time of her passing, she had 2 standard poodles that she adored.

She is survived by her loving extended family and a number of very close friends.

A private ceremony will be held with no calling hours.
