Catherine J. Wise

Catherine J. Wise (Henderson) Born January 7, 1921 to Jennie Quig Henderson and Robert Donald Henderson in Galt Ontario, Canada. Her parents had just immigrated from Scotland. She had 1 brother John Henderson, 3 sisters, Agnes Henderson Travis, Margaret Henderson Sarcletti and Jennie Henderson White. All preceded her in death. She moved with her family to Green River, WY when she was about 2 years old. Cathy attended schools in Green River and graduated from High School in 1939, where she was a member of the drum and bugle corps and quite the basketball player. She attended a dance in Rock Springs where she met the love of her life , Joseph Wise Jr. They married in Rock Springs in September, 1942. Cathy and Joe traveled the world while they were in the Air Force, to many destinations including Turkey, France and to Alaska and Hawaii before they were states. They were accompanied by their 2 beloved boxer dogs, Tunker and Shan. Out of all the places they were stationed, Cathy liked Turkey the best. She still remembered some of the Turkish language after all of these years. When they retired from the Air Force in April, 1976 they bought a home and settled down in Englewood Colorado where many of their neighbors became lifelong friends. Cathy enjoyed crafting of all kinds including knitting beautiful creations for all of her family, tole painting, decorating cakes, jewelry making and many fun things from plastic canvas. Christmas was her favorite time of year. They decorated their home to the nines, friends and family came from all over to see their Christmas Villages and decorations. Anyone who knew Cathy knew she was extremely organized, a list maker, a doer. Cathy had 13 nieces and nephews and many grand-nieces and nephews who she enjoyed spending time with. They loved spending time with her and listening to all of the great stories of her life. She lived a long, healthy and happy life to the ripe young age of 95. She enjoyed time with her family, friends and neighbors always. She partied hardy on her birthday January 7, 2016, and she will always be remembered for the smile on her face and her happy disposition.
