Cayson Jack Pearson, 19, passed away from suicide following a ten-year battle with depression on January 5, 2024. He was born April 6, 2004, in Colorado to Jacqueline and Richard Pearson.
Cayson is survived by his loving family; parents, Jacquie and Rich; siblings, Conley, Cameron and his wife Anne, Kyrie and her husband Tate, Kinsey and her husband Alex, and Kantyn; along with his treasured nephew and nieces, Laken, Delaney, Jane, and Meleah. He is also survived by grandparents Daniel and Elizabeth Cramer, Lon and Janet Pearson, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Cayson was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and as such, his family looks forward to being reunited with him as an eternal family. He attended Rooney Ranch Elementary School, Dunstan Middle School, Chatfield Senior High School, and graduated from Green Mountain High School in 2022, where he was a Varsity Basketball Player. He was called to serve a mission to Brazil for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the summer of 2022, and came home in September of the same year due to his deep struggle with depression. In January of 2023, he began his first semester at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where he planned to major in Finance.
Cayson was a walking encyclopedia; from a young age, he had an insatiable thirst for knowledge and asked more questions than anyone could ever answer. He learned as much as he could about any subject that sparked his interest; he consistently searched out sports cars and made sure to take pictures any time he passed by a Corvette. As any Pearson should, Cayson had an intense love for basketball. Following his high school graduation, he continued to play with his brothers and his dad whenever he could—wearing his favorite Kobe Basketball shoes. His favorite meal by far was a gigantic bowl (or three) of cold cereal. His nephew and nieces were such a focus in his life, and he held the title of “The Baby Whisperer” among his family and close friends. He loved to be included in any and every activity, bringing smiles and laughter to so many even while he was fighting his demons. He was such a light and will be deeply missed.
A service to celebrate Cayson’s life will be held on Saturday, January 13th, at 11:30am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6465 West Jewell Ave., Lakewood, CO 80232, with a visitation prior to the service from 10:15-11:00am.
Dress code calls for your best pair of basketball shoes.

Because of how much Cayson loved cold cereal, the family wants to share that love by having a cold cereal buffet – the Captain Cayson Cereal Crunch – directly following the service in the gymnasium.
His burial will take place at 11:00am on Monday, January 15th at the Chapel Hill Cemetery, 6601 S. Colorado Blvd., Centennial, CO 80121
