Celia N. Wilson

September 28, 1916 — July 31, 2010

Celia Wilson, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and dear friend passed away July 31, 2010. Celia was born in 1916 in Clarinda, Iowa to Samuel and Elsie Jackson, who both preceded her in death. She barely survived the flu pandemic of 1918 which took her brother Harold. The family later moved to Colorado where Celia met and married the love of her life, Edward Gallagher in 1940. They had six children before Edward's untimely death in 1956. Celia graduated from Fort Collins High School and Regis College. In 1963 she married Thomas Wilson. A sports fan since childhood, Celia was awarded the Dorothy Mauk Pioneer Award by the Sportswomen of Colorado in 2000 for her role in organizing and promoting girls sports in Denver. She was a long-time Broncos, Rockies, Avalanche and Nuggets fan. Celia was recently recognized by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for more than 50 years of charitable donations. She is preceded in death by her son, Harold Gallagher; her husband Edward Gallagher and her husband Thomas Wilson. Celia is survived by her children Jack Gallagher and wife Shari, Nancy Spieth and husband Jim, Ann Becker, Jim Gallagher and wife Deanna, Janice Ford and husband Robert, daughter-in law Gloria Basnett, and stepson Joseph Henry Wilson Richards. She is also survived by fourteen grand children, twenty-one great-grandchildren and countless friends. Visitation, Wed, 4-7 PM and Rosary at 7 PM all at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd. Funeral Mass, Thurs., 10:30 AM at Church of the Good Shepherd, 2626 E. Seventh Ave. Pkwy. Burial at Ft. Logan. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Church, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Denver Hospice.
