Celine Henderson

October 26, 1931 — August 31, 2020

Celine Henderson, 88, of Denver CO, passed away August 31, 2020.

Born in Spencer, Nebraska, Celine moved to Denver as a young child with her grandmother and mother.  Growing up in north Denver she graduated from Holy Family High School in 1949 and attended Loretto Heights College.  Celine worked for Mountain Bell until she married Robert (Bob) Henderson and began raising a family.  Until Bob passed away, they spent the next 60 years together, both devoted to family, church and community.  In 1980 Celine and Bob moved to Grand Junction, CO where she worked in the administrations of local high schools and continued to be involved in family, friends and community for the next 10 years before returning to Denver.

Throughout her life Celine was tireless in volunteering with churches, schools, Telephone Pioneers, and throughout the community, receiving numerous recognitions and awards, both locally and nationally.  In the early 1960’s she was one of the founding members of Theresians International, a spiritual ministry for women.  Celine was always thoughtful, generous and kind.  Any spare moment was spent offering to help someone in need.  In addition to volunteering she loved spending time with her grandchildren, visiting friends, cooking, and gardening (especially tending to her rose garden).

Celine is survived by her four children, Therese (Doug) Swinehart, Tom (Kathleen) Henderson, Marie (Reto) Gamweger, Mike (Kimberly) Henderson; nine grandchildren, Andrea (Andy) Staron, Meredith & Caroline Swinehart, Sarah & Rachel Henderson, Josh (Paula) Lee, Taylor (Sarah) Lee, Katelyn & Isaac Henderson; six great grandchildren, A.J., Lucia & Felicity Staron, Eliana Lee, Roman & Indie Rose Lee.

A private service for family and burial will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2020.
