Chanel O. Kernisky

Chanel, of Castle Rock, Colorado passed away April 20, 2009. She was born in Denver, Colorado on October 10, 1967, to Neal and Barbara (Archer) Hargrave. A very active and happy childhood, Chanel excelled at writing stories, as well as every sport and activity she pursued. After graduating from Hinkley High School in Aurora, Colorado, she received her degree in Business Management from Metro State. After college, Chanel pursued a career in health insurance and spent her remaining years as a Broker for Smallwood Financial where she worked with many of her close friends. Always up for a new adventure, she loved to travel and experience new cultures. One of her favorite destinies was Victoria, on Vancouver Island, Canada. Her best times were at home with her family, with football, golf or many other sports on TV in the background. Chanel was an aspiring chef, a fantastic golfer, loved a wide range of music, and enjoyed movies including Lonesome Dove, Dumb and Dumber, Tombstone, Life Is Beautiful, and her family tradition, A Christmas Story. A loving and giving person, she took great pride in her family's accomplishments. She was a caring Mother, loving Wife, cherished daughter, and best friend to all. Chanel is survived by her husband Wayne Kernisky; daughters Chelsea Hamer and Madison Kernisky; parents Neal and Barbara of Canon City; parents-in-law John and Shirley Kernisky and Tammy and Peter Resch, all of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Memorial Services in Chanel's honor will be held Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 2:00 P.M., at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (just one block to the west of Holly Street), in Centennial, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, Chanel's final request was to leave a living memorial, in her honor, by planting a tree or plant.
