Charlene Joy Siders, “Shari” as known to all her family and friends, passed away June 3, 2024 after a short illness in Lakewood, Colorado. Born a farmer’s daughter in Cambridge, Nebraska on August 7, 1933, the family soon relocated to their forever home in Colorado.
Shari grew up in Boulder and graduated from Boulder High School before moving to Denver for the work and excitement of the big city. There she met the love of her life, Clarence “Red” Siders, and they spent the next 68 years together. She was a working mother of two sons and enjoyed a 30 year career in government service, mostly with the Bureau of Reclamation’s Dam Safety Division, which always brought a little chuckle when she was asked about her work.
A hobbyist at heart, she was skilled in ceramics, quilt making, sewing, and doll crafts. The latter was her pride and joy. She hand made numerous collector dolls which were acknowledged with several awards and accolades in Denver area shows.
Shari was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Hazel (Smith) Kelly, her older sister Peggy, and son Kevin. She is survived by her husband Red Siders, son Randy and wife Nancy Siders, daughter-in-law Marlene Maxon, four grandchildren; Jennifer, Sarah, Shannon, and Zachary, and numerous great grandchildren.
