June 15, 1939 — January 7, 2016

Charlene E. Smithgall, age 76, passed away at the Aurora Medical Center on Thursday, January 7, 2016 due to a massive stroke. Charlene was born on June 15, 1939 in Ider, Alabama to Arthur J. Edmondson and Edith Edmondson. She lived in Aurora, Colorado with her daughter Sherry and grand-daughter Kayla, at the time of her passing. Charlene worked mostly in the health care field throughout her life but enjoyed being a Certified Nurses Assistant for hospice care patients the most. Charlene also owned her own cleaning business before finally deciding to retire. Even after retiring, she still worked for hospice part-time and volunteered for the ""Guardian Angels"" as an in home caretaker for family members, until her health no longer allowed her to do so. Her favorite hobbies included bowling, in which she participated in several Las Vegas tournaments. Charlene was a member of the German Short Hair Pointer's Club of Colorado and bred several ""Championship"" Pointers with her husband of 17 years, Daniel K. Smithgall. She also enjoyed fishing and belonged to an all female fishing club for almost a decade. But most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and with her little dog ""Buddy"". Charlene is survived by many loving family members, including her children, Charles ""Chuck"" Green and his wife Brenda, Sherry L. Weech, Alice ""Kati"" Hawes and her husband Jim, her grandchildren Holly, Zachary, Leighton, Kayla, Tyler, Deanna, Jason, and Courtney as well as great-grandchildren Curtis, Liam, Carter, Orion, and Stanton. Charlene is also survived by her brother, Van Edmondson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel K. Smithgall, her grandson Sean and nine brothers and sisters. Services for Charlene will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 10:30 AM, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel at 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado.
