Charles Benjamin Artis

April 23, 1942 — May 11, 2013

""A life laid down for his family"" Charles ""Chuck"" was born, raised and went to school in Wayne County, North Carolina. Son of A.J. and Savannah Artis. Charles was the third son of this union. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Charles relocated to Washington, D.C. where he met and married the love of his life, Lenora. In 1971, he relocated his family to Colorado to make a better life for himself and his family. He began his career as a ""Trucker"" with The Teamsters Union and retired after 28 years. In Charles' mid-age, he joined and was baptized under the leadership of Pastor Harold Hicks. He became an ordained deacon. Later, he and his family joined Rising Star Baptist Church under Pastor Jules E. Smith until his health began to fail. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters, brothers, god-child, in-laws, two special friends, and many other relatives and friends. Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 16, 2013, 11:00 AM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora.
