Charles A. Fletcher died on January 13 at the age of 96. Born in Chicago in 1918, Charles volunteered as a radioman on B-24 bombers during World War II, a tour of duty that took him over Germany and France. After the war, Charles had a long career working for the Department of Defense in Chicago. (A recently discovered photo of Charles receiving an award had a caption on the back, ""Another commendation. Ho hum."") But his martial and professional achievements aside, Charles will be most remembered for his wit, his charm and his love of music. No family gathering was complete without a dance through the kitchen, or his interpretation of an old classic. He met his wife, Margaret, at a dance hall in Chicago, and they kept dancing throughout their 71 years of marriage. And even into his 90s, Charles didn't miss a chance to crack a joke. Charles is survived by Margaret, their five sons, two foster children, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed. A Public Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 starting at 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado. A Vigil Service will be held the on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 10:00 AM also at Horan & McConaty Chapel, Arvada.
