Chuck was born on January 6, 1954 in Portland, Oregon, to Charles A. Jensvold and Elaine Bowman Jensvold. When young, he was known as ""Tag"" (from following his older brother, Dan, around). He also has a younger sister, Karin, and a brother, Scot. He grew up in California, Wahington, and Arizona as his Dad was transferred to those places by his company, Chevron. Chuck attended Arizona State University and graduated Magna Cum Laud in English/Communications, from Occidental College in Los Angeles. He was a free-lance writer and photographer. He was a member of the Marine Corps, editing the base newspaper where he was assigned. He came to Colorado to help take care of his father when his condition became terminal. He liked writing, painting, and building architectural models of buildings his brother Dan was designing. His scale models were always the first built examples of each project, admired by Dan's clients and planning commissions for their quality and detail. Chuck liked to play tennis, golf and was taking up fly-fishing. Lately he built (to scale) several original buildings that were along old-time railroad tracks - to go with his old model railroad. He liked some comedy TV shows, but mostly liked Law and Order and other law-type shows - probably because he had once done research and investigations for a law firm. He accumulated an extensive library of books and was a constant reader. He had a great belief in the importance of the written word and the knowledge gained from classic literature. He was quiet, but could talk with authority on any subject. Uncle Chuck was loved by his two nieces who both enjoyed his gentle teasing and basked in his ready praise. Games of dominoes or model building would take on importance when he patiently shared his skills. His sister and brothers loved his quiet thoughtfulness and joy of learning, welcoming his insights on life. He was a wonderful person, too young to die. A writing award at Occidental College is being set up in his name. Contributuions may be sent to Charles Jensvold Memorial Fund, US Bank, 941 South Havana Street, Aurora, Colorado 80012.
