Charles W. ""Chuck"" Johnson, 64 years old, a Colorado Master Plumber and business owner, passed away peacefully at home in Commerce City, CO on Friday October 5, 2018 after a short battle with cancer.
Chuck was born on October 21, 1953, at St. Luke's Hospital in Denver. Chuck lived in Commerce City, CO recently and prior to that time he lived Elizabeth, CO for 16 years, and in Parker, CO for 15 years. Chuck met his wife, Linda, on Oct 7, 1974 and they were in love for 44 years. Chuck enjoyed fishing and camping with his family and friends. Chuck loved all of his eleven German Shepherd Dogs that he had through the last 44 years, but one of his favorites was Stormy.
Chuck and his wife, Linda, owned one of the largest new residential plumbing companies in Colorado, Johnson Diversified, Inc (JDI Plumbing) and employed 150 employees and plumbed 1,988 residential units in 2007 at its peak. The company was closed in 2008 due to the number of builders filing bankruptcy. Chuck and his wife started Johnson & Sons Plumbing in 2008 and employed 70 employees when they closed the company in 2015. Chuck always saw the best in everyone and he would hire and train people who he saw were working hard but were struggling to get a good paying career and they became successful in their plumbing careers.
Chuck also developed Britanie Ridge Estates in Elizabeth, CO, with his partners his wife and good friends Melvin Pfeifer and his wife Tarie. Chuck and Melvin developed a 525-acre ranch into 86 lots that were 5 acres each. When the Elbert County Commissioners approved Britanie Ridge Estates, they indicated this was the best subdivision approved and would be the standard for future subdivisions. Britanie Ridge Estates was one of the few developments in Elbert County with paved roads, fire hydrants, and water through a metro district. Chuck's long-term friend, Gary Sanders of George T Sanders Company, provided the material for the fire hydrants and for the water system.
Chuck's survivors include his wife Linda; his 3 sons and daughter in law-Paul and Erin Johnson of Alice, CO and Charles ""Chuck"" Johnson of Commerce City, CO and Eric Johnson of Commerce City, CO; his grandson and granddaughter from Paul and Erin-Aidan and Ginger of Alice, CO; his sister Diane McDaniels of Aurora, CO; numerous nephews and nieces and other close family members. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marjorie Johnson, and his brother Steve Johnson.
