For 40 years a leader in the auto industry, culminating his career as President of Alamo Rent A Car, Chuck Platt devoted his retirement years to creating and leading history organizations. At his death he was Vice President of the Churchill Centre, board member of the Ulysses S. Grant Association, and advisor to the U. S. Lincoln Bicentennial Commission. He was also co-founder and longtime Treasurer of The Lincoln Forum, and sponsor of its annual Platt Family Lincoln essay contest for college students. Born in Michigan, educated at the University of Nebraska and Columbia, and a 34-year-veteran executive at GMAC before joining Alamo. A skilled and patient administrator, generous sponsor, lifelong and passionate history student, and treasured friend, Platt is survived by Linda, his beloved wife of 51 years, their children Murray Platt and Annette Westerby, their grandchildren Megan, Matt, Grant, and Trevor, a brother John Murray Platt, two sisters, Cynthia Murray and Ann Baugh.
