Charles Loston, Scott Jr.

June 6, 1930 — February 15, 2015

Charles Loston Scott, Jr., known by many as ""Chuck"", 84, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife Sandra Sue Ramsdell Scott married for 54 years, his children Craig Scott of Superior, Colorado and Bruce Scott (Golnar Scott) of Danville, California, and his sister Ann McCormick of Hamilton, Ohio. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kathleen Sue Scott, Emily Lynn Scott and Derek Scott, and step grandchildren Arman Assadi and Saman Assadi; and nephews Mark McCormick and Kent McCormick, Blake Spicer and nieces Leslie Kennefick and Marla Muccino. Charles was born in Booneville, Kentucky to his mother Virginia Smith Scott and father Charles Loston Scott. He graduated from Salem Community High School in Salem, Illinois in 1949. He graduated from Centralia Township Junior College in 1951 and then attended the University of Illinois. He was separated from his studies when he was admitted to the Army in 1952 where he served in combat duty in Korea during the Korean War. He rose to the rank of Sergeant First Class with the 11th Engineers Korea Combat Battalion, known as the ""Jungle Cats"". After being honorably discharged from the Army he returned to Illinois and completed his degree at the University of Illinois Champaign where he majored in Mechanical Engineering. During his time at University of Ilinois he was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. Charles embarked on a career in mechanical engineering and technical sales with Hughes Tool Company, which later became Baker Hughes. He advised clients on drilling and mining equipment needs for industrial mining and excavation, and oil & gas development. He travelled with his career throughout the United States and Canada, as well as China and Southeast Asia in the late 1970s. Organizations and Associations he belonged to include: The Society of Mining Engineers, American Institute of Mining and Petroleum Engineers, The Canadian Institute of Mining, International Association of Drilling Contractors, Founding and Board Member of the Institute of Drilling Technology. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Korean War Veterans Association, and Founding Member of the 11th Engineer (Combat Korea) Battalion Association. Charles had an impact on all who knew him. He is remembered for his quick wit and humor, which often would strike when one least expected. He was quietly forceful but not intrusive. He had a strong value system and was respected for doing the right thing. Above all he was a great husband, father and friend and was devoted to all he loved. His presence will always be felt. Charles will be buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery with military funeral honors on February 27th. A Memorial Service will be held in his honor on February 28th, 11 AM in Broomfield, Colorado at the Chateaux at Fox Meadows.
