Charles Brim was born on September 24, 1944 in Lufkin, Texas and died on January 10, 2012 in Conroe, Texas. Charles attended the Lufkin Independent School District and was known as a Great Football Quarterback-#10 for the Dunbar Tigers, Dunbar High School winning the AAA State Championship, 1964-1965. In 1966, he joined the United States Army traveling the world, where he served for twenty years and six months, retiring in 1986. On January 3, 1970 upon returning from Vietnam, Charles met Lannie Norris, and they were joined in Holy Matrimony on September 16, 1972 in Detroit, Michigan. After residing in Colorado, for the next thirty two years, the couple moved to Conroe, Texas where they resided until his demise. Survivors: his wife of forty years, Lannie M. Ward of Conroe, Texas-Denver, Colorado; a daughter, Charmique Ward of Conroe, Texas, a son, Charles Brim Ward, Jr. of Conroe, Texas; brothers, Marvin Johnson of Arkansas, Melvin Johnson of California, J. Arthur Johnson (Shirley) and Will Griffin (Edna) of Lufkin, Texas; a sister, Hazel Evans of Lufkin, Texas; sisters-in-law, Rosetta Mosley of Houston and Deborah Johnson of Virginia; mother-in-law, Annie Norris (95) years of age, Highland, Park, Michigan; a wealth of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives and friends. A public visitation will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 5:00 until 7:00 in the evening with a funeral service following at 7:00. Both will be held at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue in Aurora. Burial will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 10:15 in the morning at Staging Area C.
