Charlotte Anne Bacon

December 13, 1944 — July 18, 2014

Bacon, Charlotte Anne, 69, was welcomed into Heaven on July 18th, 2014. Charlotte was born December 13, 1944 in Denver at St. Luke's to George & Margaret Draper. She was followed two years later by her sister, Deborah Rohrer. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, and was a concert accordionist during her college years at Mesa State in Grand Junction. She married John Bacon, a serviceman in the Air Force in 1967, and moved with him to McConnell AFB in Wichita, KS and Hamilton AFB in Novato, CA before settling in the Denver area after John's discharge from the military. They welcomed two daughters, Melissa and Jennifer, in the mid 70's. Throughout Charlotte's life she was involved in many community groups, such as Welcome Wagon and North Area Cares. She was also a founding member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Thornton. More recently, Charlotte volunteered at the Almost Home Adoptions for Rescued Cats in Westminster. She had a great love of all creatures, big or small, and happily had her kitties by her side through her last days. She had many interests such as flower gardening, lace making, memory book making and quilling. Her main love was to be surrounded by her friends and family. After suffering a severe stroke on July 4th, she spent her last days at home surrounded by family and under the wonderful care of Hospice of CovenantCare. She is survived by her husband John, daughters Melissa (Earl) Barbee, Jennifer Dolan, granddaughter Brianna Dolan, mother Margaret Draper Abercrombie, and sister Deborah (Dan) Rohrer; nephews Alan (Elizabeth) Bacon, Scott (Kathy) Bacon, Jeff Jasper, Mike (Charlotte) Jasper, niece Stacey Jasper and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her father, George Draper. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Broomfield United Methodist Church, 545 West 10th Avenue in Broomfield. Entombment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Special thanks to Hospice of CovenantCare, and especially to nurse Kevin Samelson and the other caring members of his Hospice team. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Almost Home Adoptions for Rescued Cats 6010 West 88th Avenue, Westminster, CO 80031; 303-432-2299.
