Charlotte Royce Durbin

Charlotte Royce Durbin was born in Dubuque, Iowa, to Monroe E. Royce and Matilda G. Royce (Accola). She was one of seven brothers and sisters.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Roy J. Durbin, Sr.

She has left her children; Roy J. Durbin, Jr., Kathleen Klem, Daniel Durbin, Nancy Chabica; 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

She graduated from high school, became a telephone operator, and then joined the first women's military organization during the Korean War as a member of the United States Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, she devoted her time to her home, husband and children. Three of Charlotte's siblings had been born deaf so from her childhood through her adult life Charlotte acted as a sign language interpreter and loved to teach others basic skills.

She enjoyed painting, ceramics, her grandchildren, and was an avid reader. She was always positive and had a great sense of humor. She encouraged her children to follow their dreams.

Charlotte will be interred with her husband in Grants Pass, Oregon at the VA Cemetery.

She will be dearly missed.
