Cheri Ann Gallegos

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Cheri
Ann Gallegos, passed away April 8, 2024, with her family and
devoted soulmate Don Gallegos beside her. She was 88 years
old. Cheri was born in Denver, Colorado on December 23, 1935.
She graduated from St. Francis High School in 1953 and married
her true love, Don Gallegos on November 12, 1955. Cheri’s
passion for home and family with Don fueled their life. She was a
devoted and loving wife, always by Don’s side, supporting his
corporate career as he became the President of King Soopers.
Together they would go on to have six children, nineteen
grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Cheri was a woman for others, well known for her handwritten
loving cards and care of those who were without means or a
home. Her higher education, she would say, she learned “on the
street”, as she took up the social work of the homeless alongside
Father Woody. Following his passing, she made a commitment to
carry on his work and founded with her husband, Father Woody’s
Haven of Hope in 1991, now called Haven of Hope. Together
Cheri and Don spent the second half of their lives helping to serve
countless people, offering meals, support, a place to rest, and the
opportunity to get back on their feet.

She loved to host parties, Sunday family dinners, one on one
conversations and cocktail hours. Two nights before she passed
she and our father stayed up all night, playing music and having a
“final final”. She has left a legacy of true love and home for many.
She will be dearly missed by all.

She is survived by the love of her life Don Gallegos, 6 children
Tresa Roman (Jan), Paul Gallegos (Terry), David Gallegos
(Laurie), Jerry Gallegos (Missy), Annie Cole (David), Mary Lynn,
19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. In addition, she is
survived by her niece and “sister’ Trudie Palmer and her family.
We warmly welcome you to celebrate her life on Wednesday, April
17th. Rosary begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by services at
11:00a.m. - Horan & McConaty, 3101 S Wadsworth Blvd,
