Chester ‘Chet’ Damoc died exactly 1 month short of his 95th birthday on May 6, 2020 in Denver, Colorado. He passed away from complications due to congestive heart failure.
Chester was born on June 6, 1925 in Garfield, New Jersey to Chester and Margaret Damoc. He enlisted in the Merchant Marines at 18 where he served as a radio/telegraph oï¬cer. He graduated from Manhattan College in 1951 with a degree in electrical engineering. He met and married Rita Hagan his wife of 22 years in Wichita, Kansas. Chester spent most of his career at Louis Allis outside of Philadelphia as a District Manager. In 1983, he semi-retired and moved to Denver, Colorado where he lived for the remainder of his life.
He was very active and fit; he enjoyed running, swimming and fishing. He took up skiing at age 65 and skied into his 80s. He traveled the world to places oï¬ the beaten path including India, China and Russia. As an active member of Most Precious Blood church, he belonged to the St. Vincent de Paul society for over 20 years. He was a very spiritual man who was constantly studying the Bible and diï¬erent types of prayer and meditation. Perhaps his most memorable trait was his consistent gratitude for not only the big things in life but the little things as well. He was particularly proud of how close his family stayed over the years.
He is preceded in his death by his wife, Rita Louise Damoc who died in 1975, she was 45. He raised his three children as a single parent since their teens. He is survived by three children - Mary O’Connor (Michael), Paul Damoc, and Patricia Cope (Thomas) and 7 grandchildren.
