Christine Lynn Coon, age 51, died in the Cardiac IC Unit of Swedish Medical Center on December 31, 2021, where she had been receiving care since November 23, 2021. She suffered a brain injury which would have limited her quality of life, so her family chose to send her to heaven. Kevin Coon, her loving husband, and Virginia Minturn, her loving mother, were with her to the end.
Christine was born August 2, 1970, in Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas, to parents Thomas Earl Minturn and Virginia Varah Minturn. She lived in Liberal, on a farm in Texas County, Oklahoma, back in Liberal, in Amarillo, Texas, and Bartlesville, Oklahoma, before moving to Denver in January, 1986.
She worked at King Soopers while attending Cherry Creek High School, and in subsequent years, where she met her husband, Kevin G. Coon. They were married on August 9, 1997, and honey-mooned at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. She began her career at Walgreens on October 13, 2006, and served a multitude of loyal customers who became good friends.
Her interests always centered around family and friends. She knew everyone’s birthday and always acknowledged them with greeting cards. Her Christmas card list was all inclusive and let folks share the Coon adventures wherever they happened to travel.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin, her mother, Virginia, her nephew Steven Mack Minturn, and a host of good friends and customers. She was preceded in death by her brother, Steven James, and her father, Thomas Earl.
There will be a celebration of Christine’s life on January 16 at 2:00 o’clock in the chapel at Horan & McConaty on Parker Road in Aurora. Memorials should be of the donor’s choosing to honor the memory of her life.
