Christine Goodwin

November 10, 1952 — January 12, 2012

Christine Goodwin, 59 years of age, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on January, 12, 2012. Our Chris was a vivacious, quick-witted, hilarious, resilient, strong, loving force to be reckoned with. We have lost our beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandma too soon. She fought with all of her might on Thursday night, but heaven needed her more. She will forever be remembered as a woman with boundless love, humor, and passion, sharing her unfailing hope with everyone around her. From an early age, horses brought her immense joy. Riding and caring for beautiful animals was one of her greatest loves. She shared a very special bond with these magnificent creatures, her kindred spirits. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger A. Goodwin, and her mother, Betty Jane Hoch Jones. They needed an additional gin rummy partner and have set a place for her and dealt her in. She is survived by her father, Don Jones of Centennial. She leaves behind two beautiful daughters, Sandy and Stephanie and beloved stepchildren, Scott and Donna. Sandy and Joe Brawley, Steph and Tim Allen, Scott and Tammy Goodwin, and Donna Nelson have provided the joys of her life, her 11 grandchildren: Jennifer, Nicole, Joseph, Joelle, Jessica, Sabrina, Jake, Keith, Allie, Kachine, and Allan. She is also survived by her sister, Louise McCoy and her husband, Monte of Dallas, her brother, Bob Jones, his wife Carla and their children, Lauren, Evan and Kristen of Houston, and sister, Carolyn Carson and her daughter Cambria of Austin. She also leaves behind her beloved friend and fellow horsewoman of 44 years, Janice Wascher. Chris lived in Denver for 44 years and had countless friends who loved her. Special recognition and thanks go to Dr. Richard Hesky, MD of Comprehensive Cancer Center of St. Joseph Hospital, and Dr. Conlin, and the entire ICU staff of St. Joseph Hospital. They were amazing and helpful in every way possible. In lieu of flowers, Chris would have wanted any memorials to go to help others. Her favorite charities were Heifer International and Nature Conservancy. A private gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, January 16, 2012. Chris said the year of 2012 was going to be the year of laughter for her. It still is; she just happens to be laughing from above. It is one lingering sound we will always remember -- her infectious and effervescent laugh. We love and miss her with all of our hearts.
