Christine ""Chris"" P. Herlihy

May 14, 1939 — December 1, 2016

Christine ""Chris"" P. Herlihy of Aurora, CO passed peacefully in her sleep on December 1, 2016 after a short battle with cancer surrounded by the care and comfort of her daughter Joanne Herlihy Brammer and her husband, David, of Westminster, CO, and Otis, her cat, at Covenant Village of Colorado. Chris was born May 14, 1939 in Springfield, MA to the late Rita A. (Hargaden) and Aldorie J. Pilon. Chris graduated from South Hadley High School as valedictorian in 1957. Chris attended Bryant College earning her B.S. in Accounting in 1959 and later an MBA from the University of Connecticut. She married William F. Herlihy of Springfield, MA in 1961. While raising her family in Wilton, CT, Chris worked steadily. Among her positions, she was a Plant Controller with National Can Corp., and an Assistant Controller for LFE Corp., (Traffic Control Div.) until moving to Angel Fire, NM and opening her own accounting office in 1985. Her favorite position was with the non-profit organization Foundation for Independent Higher Education where she was the Director of Finance and Administration. Chris enjoyed her time in Angel Fire partaking in local activities such as the Angel Fire Repertory Theater Society where she directed the play ""The Odd Couple"". She also ran for a seat on city council. She lost that election to a tied vote which was broken by an unlucky hand of poker, an event which made headline news. Her life and career took her from New Mexico to Norwalk, CT to Chicago, IL, then finally to Aurora, CO where she happily retired loving the weather. Chris was a model every day to her daughters and grandchildren that there are no limits as to what they could do or become. Upon her retirement, she enjoyed buying and selling antiques and driving cross country between CO and CT to spend time with her grandchildren and always enjoyed her visits back to South Hadley, MA for class reunions. Chris was a true foodie and inspired chef who loved trying new recipes and reinventing old ones. She was an avid reader and also loved watching golf and Law and Order. She is also survived by her former husband; beloved daughter and son-in-law Shannon and Albert Labozzo and her adored grandchildren A.J. and Katie Ann Labozzo of Milford, CT; sister-in-law; niece and nephews; aunts and cousins in FL, MA, VT and NH. Per her wishes no service will be held and interment will be private. She requests that you enjoy a fine meal in celebration of her life. The family wishes to express its deep appreciation and thanks to the caregivers at Covenant Village and of the Denver Hospice and the support and prayers of family, friends and numerous prayer groups.
