Christine A. Shigley was born in Thornton, Colorado on October 14th, 1968 to David and Carol Shigley. The oldest of three, Chris would be followed by her siblings, Joni, Jill, and Jason. A graduate of Ponderosa High School, Chris worked in the insurance industry until deciding to return to school and pursue a career in nursing. As a nurse, Christine chose very challenging assignments. She worked for Denver Health in the SICU, a trauma intensive care ward for 8 years as well as the Denver City Jail for 2 years. Chris decided to move to Nebraska and work in a local hospital so she could have the opportunity to work more with families and through that, get to know the people in her community. Chris had been cancer free for almost two years when as the result of a work injury, it was discovered she had metastatic tumors of the liver and bone. She returned to Denver to resume care with her oncologist. After numerous attempts to beat the cancer back with chemotherapy, Chris passed away peacefully on the afternoon of October 31st, surrounded by her loving family. Many friends also gathered around Chris to celebrate her life, sharing laughter and tears as they recalled her life and their times together. Please join with us as we celebrate the life and mourn the loss of Christine A. Shigley on November 19th, 2016 at the Denver Police Protective Association, 2105 Decatur St, Denver, CO 80211.
