Christopher Todd Daniels

October 22, 1970 — November 29, 2013

Christopher Todd Daniels, 43, of Parker, Colorado, died on Friday, November 29, 2013, following a two-year battle with brain cancer. Chris was born to Peter and Joan Daniels on October 22, 1970, in Boston. He graduated from Melrose High School in Melrose, Massachusetts, in 1989. In 1994, he received a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Pi fraternity. In 2002 he received his Master's in Public Policy and Administration from California State University, Long Beach. He married Shannon McDowell of Colorado Springs in 2004; they lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where they had a son, Brendan, before relocating to Parker, Colorado, in 2008. Chris served with distinction for 20 years as a Deputy United States Marshal in Los Angeles, Albuquerque, and Denver before his retirement as a Senior Inspector in 2013. During his time in the Marshals service, he served as a Special Response Team (SRT) member, tactical medic, Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) member, and a physical protection specialist. In 2000 as a tactical medic, he was recognized for his bravery under fire for saving the life of a fellow Deputy Marshal who had been critically wounded in the line of duty. Chris was an avid outdoorsman. He loved sailing the waters off the coast of Maine and rafting the Colorado rivers. He hiked and camped his way through Western national parks and enjoyed biking, fishing, and running, completing two half-marathons. He was a passionate fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins. Chris is survived by his wife Shannon and son Brendan of Parker, Colorado; parents Peter and Joan Daniels of Southport, Maine; sister Katherine of Portland, Oregon; brother Michael of Boston; and many members of the McDowell and Daniels families. A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, on December 12th at one o'clock in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Chris's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
