Christopher Wesley Metcalf

August 4, 1990 — May 30, 2016

Christopher Wesley Metcalf, 25, of Littleton, died May 30, 2016 of complications from a seizure while on vacation in Florida with his family. He was born August 4, 1990 in Carmichael, CA, the son of Matt and Barb (Dunn) Metcalf and brother of Larissa, who is three years older. When he was one, Chris was diagnosed with a brain tumor that left him with life-long special needs. In 1993, Chris and his family moved to Littleton. Growing up in Colorado gave Chris the opportunity to experience many sports endeavors, including skiing with the National Sports Center for the Disabled in Winter Park, playing basketball with the Chatfield Chargers Adaptive Basketball Team and joining the Rockin' Rockies Adaptive Baseball Team. Chris especially enjoyed traveling and seeing the world on cruises, attending Nuggets and Rockies games, and spending time with his family, friends and pets. When he wasn't traveling or playing sports, Chris was attending an adult day program at Weiland Center. His family and friends most remember his genuine smile and his happy disposition. Chris is survived by his parents Matt and Barb of Littleton; and his sister Larissa (Metcalf) Croll and brother-in-law Daniel Croll of Highlands Ranch. He also leaves his paternal grandparents, Doug and Lorraine Metcalf, of Graeagle, CA. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles and cousins: Linda and Roger Niemeyer and Ryan of Carlsbad, CA; Carol Guzman and Bianca and Jacob of Folsom, CA; and Gary Dunn of Milpitas, CA. Chris is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Fred and Dolores Dunn. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Horan & McConaty in Lakewood. The funeral will be held on Friday, June 10th at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with interment to follow at Golden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to Stepping Stone Homes, a support center for adults with development disabilities, or Weiland Center, a program for adults with developmental disabilities. Donations for Stepping Stone Homes can be mailed to Stepping Stone Homes, 9700 Old Coal Mine Ave, Littleton, CO 80123. Donations for Weiland Center can be mailed to DDRC/Weiland/Chris Metcalf, 11177 W. 8th Ave., Lakewood, CO 80215.
