Christopher ""Chris"" Matthew Utz

Utz, Christopher (Chris), Chris 41, passed away on May 15, 2014 in Denver, CO. Chris was born October 10, 1972, in Denver. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Kristy Adams, his mother, Marg (Hardiek) Utz (formerly of Dieterich), his sister, Annette (Will) Carpender, his brother, Jeff (Bretton) Utz, nieces, Emma, Lauren and Audrey and nephews, Jacob and Andrew, all of whom adored him. He was preceded in death by his father, Garry M. Utz (formerly of Effingham). Chris graduated from Bear Creek HS in Lakewood, CO, and received a Bachelor's and Master's degree from the University of Colorado at Denver (UCD), in Mechanical Engineering, where he was also an instructor. He was employed as an aerospace engineer at Lockheed Martin, and among his many talents, he designed equipment for various space crafts. His passions were skiing, mountain biking, camping and hiking, including mountains with an elevation higher than 13, 0000 feet. He loved spending time with family and friends. He was a wonderful husband, son, brother, uncle, and loyal friend. He will be dearly missed by many. Chris has many relatives in the Effingham area. A memorial service was held at Horan and McConaty Chapel in Lakewood, CO on May 23, 2014, with Father Ben Meyer presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Christopher Utz Fund at the University of Colorado Denver.
