Chris M. Zambelli, 61, of Englewood, Denver, Centennial, and Aurora passed away Thursday June 10th after a short, hard-fought battle with colon cancer.
Son of the late Daniel F. Zambelli and Anita L. (Elek) Zambelli, Preceded in death by brothers Stephen, 3 months 1963, and Timothy, 5 years 1967. Survived by brother Jeffery of Centennial.
Born in Lancaster, PA December 13th, 1959, his childhood residences included Egg Harbor, NJ, Allentown, PA, Cincinnati, OH, and Cherry Hill, NJ. He attended Catholic grade school in Allentown and Cincinnati and middle school in Cherry Hill. Colorado became home in August ’74 as father Daniel became manager of Cinderella City Mall in Englewood. Graduating from Cherry Creek High School in 1977 he also attended Ft. Lewis College, Durango just a short time.
Chris worked long hard hours in the hospitality industry as chef, server, maitre d’, banquet manager, and short order cook. Starting with Padre Restaurant St. Thomas Moore, then Roadway Inn, Mr. Steak, Red Lobster, Hotel Denver, and the Westin Hotel to name just a few. He also joined the short-run family business Athletic Attic Shoe Store in the early 80’s. In the 4 to 5 years at the Westin Hotel, Chris met and served many famous people including Andre The Giant, Ross Perot, John Fogerty (CCR), Bono (U2), and the Zambelli Fireworks family (no relation) and many more. In 1990 Chris joined the Merry Maids (house cleaning) to work with mom, dad, and Jeff. He worked very hard and was a vital contributor to the franchise as a cleaner, trainer, then the owner/president through May 2016.
Chris always took the lead as illness beset the family, keeping things running smooth with family and business matters during mother Anita (1992), father Daniel (2001), and grandmother Ethel Zambelli’s (2005) end of life circumstances.
The immeasurable and overwhelming generosity Chris has shown will be remembered always. His great wit and intellect and laugh will be missed. His love of geology/minerals, cooking, fine dining, and entertaining will be our fond reminders. Finally, his great love and loyalty to family and friends. Peace and Love.
The Funeral Service for Chris on Friday 16th, May at 3pm will be livestreamed.
