b. November 25, 1948

Arvada, Colorado

Chris is survived by his loving wife, Julie Hunter Bowman, and their daughter, Bailee, along with 8 children from a previous marriage: Aaron, Mark, Sarah, Adam, Laura, Jeff, Quinn, and Rebecca. Chris is also survived by three sisters: Suzan Ross, Marlo (Scott) Vos, and Debra (Dennis) Holmes, as well as 3 nephews, 2 nieces, and 21 grandchildren.

Chris was born in Lynwood, California on November 25, 1948, and passed away on February 11, 2023 due to complications after experiencing a medical emergency.

He graduated in 1966 from Garden Grove High School in Garden Grove, CA. In 1970 Chris completed his Bachelor’s degree from the University of California Riverside, double majoring in Mathematics and Physics. In 1973 he completed his Master’s degree in Mathematics, followed by his PhD in Mathematics in 1977 from the University of California Irvine.

His love of his country showed through his patriotism and dedication. He was an Army Reservist and served in the California National Guard. Chris was dedicated to his work and loved what he did. He worked in the fields of Data Fusion, Neural Networks, and Machine Learning and was a leader in the industry. He started his own company, DF&NN, in 1995 after working at McDonnell Douglas, Logicon, Inc., VERAC, Inc., Ball Aerospace Systems Division, and Intelligent Reasoning Systems, Inc.

In 1971, Chris joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the church in many different callings. He was an avid racquet sport player including badminton, tennis, platform or paddle tennis, and pickle ball. There was not a musical he could not sing along with, counting Oliver, Mary Poppins and Music Man among his favorites.

Chris and Julie were married March 18, 2000 and were later sealed in the Denver Colorado Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2009.  He enjoyed traveling to visit family, National Parks, and other sites. During the last 20 years he enjoyed long road trips with his family while balancing his work and adventure. Despite his many passions, spending time with his family was his greatest joy in life.  Among his other pursuits, Chris enjoyed playing computer games, board games, music, and more recently, he had begun to enjoy cruising.

Chris was an optimist. His gratitude attitude was seen by everyone who knew him.
