Claire J. Royston March 31, 1933 to June 9, 2015 Claire Royston was born in Scarsdale New York, a northern suburb of the Big Apple. She was raised in a typical middle-class nuclear family of the 1040's with a working father, a doting stay at home mother, a younger brother, and family dog â a black cocker spaniel named Topsy. Claire was both a Brownie and a Girl Scout and was proud to practice marching with the American flag in her back yard. After the end of the Second World War, her family moved to the suburbs of Boston. In school, Claire enthusiastically participated in the school plays and also enjoyed playing the piano. After graduating from the Dana Hall School in Wellesley Massachusetts, Claire attended Bradford Junior College located in Haverhill Massachusetts, where she participated in several of the school's dance performances. After college, Claire worked at MIT in their military deferment office. When her brother received his orders to serve in the Air Force at Fort Meade, Maryland, she moved with him and her then widowed Mother to the Washington, DC area. For four years she worked in the Washington bureau of the Christian Science Monitor, which at the time was located in the Riggs bank building directly across from the White House. In 1963, Claire married Richard Royston and became the proud mother of two sons, David and Eric. After her divorce in 1977, she moved from California to Denver, where her brother lived, and for many years was an active member of the Heather Gardens retirement community. In September, 2008, Claire moved to St Andrews Village and established many friendships there with both the other residents and staff. Claire is survived by her two sons, David and Eric (Angel), her brother Malcolm (Marilyn) Jones, two granddaughters Megan and Alex and two great grandsons Noah and Parker.
