Claude Leonard Malay

February 11, 1932 — April 2, 2017

Claude Leonard Malay passed away April 2, 2017 surrounded by his family and close friends. He was a loving husband, father and grand father. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Malay; children Diane (Thomas) LaManna, Doug (Cindy) Malay, and David (Leslie) Malay; grandchildren Misha (Jennifer) LaManna, Ryan (Rachel) Malay, Jason (Kayla) Malay, Michael (Tasha) Malay, Christopher Malay and Charlie Malay. Claude served in the Air Force Police from 1950 through 1955 and retired as a Staff Sergeant. He was honored with being the National Vice President of the United States Jaycees and is included in the book of The Outstanding Young Men of America. He helped raise funds to build Craig Rehabilitation Hospital. He invented indoor incubation for chickens and won the Future Farmer of America Award. Claude was in sales for most of his life, loved golf and all sports, including horse and dog race betting. Claude was the kind of person you never forgot once you met him and knew no strangers. He loved people. Claude was the youngest of seven. He loved watching his kids and grandkids wrestle, play hockey and baseball. His legacy will continue to carry on in his children and grand children, including 5 great grand children, one great-great granddaughter and his adopted children Casey ( Josephine) Coomes and Makayla (Justin) Spletzer (Lily). A Visitation will be held Thursday, April 6, 5:30 PM, followed by a celebration of Claude's life from 7:00 - 8:00 at The Heartlight Center, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora Colorado, 80014. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 7, 11:00 AM at St. John's Cathedral, 1350 Washington Street, Denver, Colorado, 80203. Burial will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Monday, April 10 at 10:15 AM. Please arrive at or before 10:00 to Staging Area ""C"" for an escorted procession to the Shelter where the Service will be held. Military honors will be rendered by the United States Air Force, the All Veterans Rifle Team and the Honor Bell Foundation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Denver Hospice in memory of Claude. Please share memories of Claude and condolences for his family in the guestbook below.
